Target: The Andromeda Galaxy

Target: The Andromeda Galaxy

My first target for tonight is the Andromeda Galaxy, our closest neighboring galaxy. I would have tried to shoot it earlier in the year, but it was too low on the eastern horizon to get a good shot. It is now directly overhead, so I am excited to see what images I can get. And tonight is a special night of sorts!

I am running two new imaging filters tonight: the Antlia ALP-T Ha/OIII and Antlia ALP-T SII/Hb filters. I am using these filters tonight and my Antlia Quadband filter to capture images of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Flaming Star Nebula, and the Rosette Nebula. I have shot the Rosette Nebula before, but it was in the beginning, and my skills weren't that great. I have been researching astrophotography over the summer, and I am ready to put my new knowledge to the test!

Stay tuned for art on these three regions of our heavens!
